My Birthday!

As promised I have birthday pics to post. I had a great 27th birthday this year. I like to make my birthday last as long as possible and I'd say I did pretty well this year. For starters Kreg took me out last Wednesday (the night before my birthday). We had 2 reasons for celebrating early. The first reason being that we knew Thursday night was going to be busy with packing and cleaning (Kreg went backpacking in Colorado for 4 days with his dad and brothers and I went to my parents house while he was gone...he left last Friday evening). The second reason for our early celebration was that it was 4 years ago that day (June 24th) that we got engaged! So we went back to the Art Museum in Indy and took a picture in the gardens at the very spot where he proposed! Isn't he sweet. And it gets better...for my birthday he bought me a dress to wear and we went to a wonderful Italian restaurant downtown Indy (Mama Rosa's)...yum yum! We topped off the night with a little shopping and ice cream. 5 hours with no kids...need I say, it was a very nice evening! Then on Thursday (my birthday) Kreg and the kids took me out to lunch. In the evening Kreg's brother and parents surprised me with a cheesecake.
The spot where he proposed: 4 years, 2 kids, and a mini van later, here we are!

And my cheesecake the night of my birthday:

But the fun doesn't stop there....my wonderful parents let me celebrate all weekend long. We went to Cheesecake Factory for dinner (Are you catching on to the idea that I LOVE cheesecake....White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle...makes my mouth water!) and I got to open a present for each day that Kreg was gone! And oh my that was fun! My birthday didn't end until yesterday! I also got to spend the weekend with my college roommate. And there was shopping, pool time, and lots of great talk time involved.

Kreg had the camera while he was gone so I couldn't take any pictures of my weekend. But my mom took a few so as soon as I get those from her I'll post a few more.
Here is the studly backpacker himself:

And a few pics of the terrain:

I'm glad they had fun but I'm even more glad to have Kreg home again!

Summer is definitely here!

Hello loyal readers....I am happy to be up and running again with the new and improved blog (at least I think so). I have much to update you on but we'll start slow so as not to inundate you with too much too quickly!

Hot hot hot! That seems to be the name of the game right now. We are trying to enjoy our summer as much as possible because well summer always goes waaaayyyy too quickly. Wouldn't you agree? So, we've been doing as much swimming as we possibly can lately. Aiden is doing pretty well with a life vest and floaties. He definitely won't sink, haha...that's for sure. We're just working on the doggy paddle right now and kicking but he's starting to catch on. Makayla is not quite a little mermaid yet. Her first time in the pool was last weekend and she didn't seem to mind it. Although she wasn't quite squealing with delight either. I have pictures to document all our fun.

By the way, today is my birthday! And it also marks 6 months til Christmas. Not that I'm counting (don't get me wrong). I just always thought it was neat that my birthday was exactly 6 months from Christmas. I will post birthday pictures later because I do believe Mr. Aiden just awakened from his nap, which was just way too short today.

Oh yes and Happy Anniversary Grandpa and Grandma Deardorff!

Cute swimsuit Makayla!

My Men!

Aiden swimming all by himself!

Jump Aiden Jump!

Woooohoooo!

Going Private

Well I realize I have not been the best of bloggers as of late but I have been thinking a lot (and we've been busy). Kreg and I have talked and we are not sure its the best idea to continue airing our entire life and kiddos to the big bad world wide web. One reason is safety of ourselves and our children. And another thing that keeps going through my mind is when my kids reach high school are their friends going to be able to find this blog? Are the things I write about now going to be embarrassing to them later? I can just envision Aiden on the football or baseball team and one day having one of his friends bring in one of my posts or a picture and be totally embarrassed. I would not like that. I write this blog so friends and family can keep up to date on us and watch our kids grow. I don't want it to come back to haunt my son or daughter in the future.

So Kreg and I have come to a compromise. Our blog is going private. I had a friend that recently made her blog private and that's what got me thinking. If you know us and you would like to continue to read our blog we would love for you to. My plan is to make the blog private in two weeks (June 24). So if you want to keep up with us then just send me your e-mail address. You can e-mail me at staceysalsbery@gmail.com. I will put all of your e-mails on my list of approved readers and you can sign in and read all you want, anytime you want! The one catch is that you must have a gmail account in order to be a long time follower. If you don't have a gmail account I believe you can sign in as a guest for up to a month. (Gma and Gpa if you want me to set up a gmail account for you just let me know and I will) I am sorry for any inconvenience but Kreg and I both feel if I am going to keep blogging then this is the best setup for us and our little family.

4 months old!

Sweet baby Makayla is 4 months old today!

Thanks for the picture Uncle Kent!

We have been crazy busy lately, thus the lack of posts. Sorry about that. Kreg has been in the fields solid since the beginning of last week. Some nights they have even worked around the clock. They've been rushed to get the crops in the ground because of all the rain. So I have been in single parent mode most days and that is tough! Shheeeweeeee....I am soooo thankful for the great daddy my husband is and we sure miss him when he has to work so much! Things go so much smoother when the presence of daddy is around. But we're making it and I am happy to report the corn is in the ground! On to beans now.

I have more pictures to post later. Some of the things we have been up to: Kyle's high school graduation and open house (Kreg's youngest brother), spending some great time with Kreg's family that were in town for the graduation, taking Aiden for tractor rides, taking lunch and dinner to Kreg, play dates at the park, walks, jogs, and playing in the sandbox.

Precious Moments

I'm thinking maybe I should start a "precious moments" series since I witness quite a few of them around here. So I shall give you two today to "aawwww" over.

Precious Moment #1: I took the kids for a jog yesterday after their naps. I love my double jogging stroller. It is most definitely quite the workout. Anywho...about 5 minutes into our run I look through the parent peek window of the canopy and I see Aiden reach over to hold Makayla's hand. (aaawwwww) It was so sweet. I have no idea what prompted him to do this but he held her hand and played with her little fingers for probably a good 10 minutes. Such a sweet big brother.

Precious Moment #2: Aiden loves to copy whatever Kreg and I do. Most of the time its very cute. Well prior to my "real" jog with the kids Aiden decided he wanted to run with mommy. (This is the 2nd time he has done this). So I pushed the stroller and let him run beside me to begin with. With his little 2 year old legs I have to sort of jog in place to let him keep up with me. And the poor guy works sooooo hard to keep up with mommy. It's so cute. He gets his little arms pumping and his head down and his legs movin as fast as they can go. After a few minutes he was huffing and puffing and I asked him if he was ready to get in the stroller. He said, "No (huff and puff), I run (huff and puff) with mommy (huff and puff) and off he went arms pumping, head down, and legs movin for probably close to 1/2 a mile. I know pretty good for such a little guy. I think one day I will be attending his cross country meets. I told that to Kreg and he said no I will be attending his football games...oh ok....football it is then.

Utterly Amazed!

Yes I am utterly amazed. I am speechless really (except for the words I shall type now). It is 5pm and both of my children are still asleep! Wow! Yes you read that correctly. They both (both at the same time mind you...a feat in and of itself) went to bed at 2 and they are still asleep. 3 hours! 3 HOURS! Wow! This has never happened before. To have 3 whole hours all to myself while both children are in my care. I have a quiche in the oven. Laundry done. Kitchen cleaned up (from said quiche). E-mails read and some even replied to. Phone calls made. The budget updated. And a smile on my face. Wow! (I even wandered around the house a bit not sure what to do with myself)

I was starting to get worried because this never happens. So I went in a few minutes ago to make sure they are still breathing....and yes they are still breathing. They both look rather cute sleeping too...I might add.

So my predicament...do I wake them up? Makayla should have nursed over an hour ago. And Kreg is working late and I would really like Aiden to go to bed at 8pm with no problems. I am wondering if this big nap will mess him up. And yet these words ring in my head "never wake a sleeping baby" (or toddler for that matter). So I guess I shall wait... just a few more minutes! Oh happy day!!

(I'm probably in for short naps the rest of the week) :)
